16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m)

Russia played host to the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) only once – in April 2002 in Moscow.

FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) are an international swimming competition held under auspices of the International Swimming Federation (FINA). The championships are traditionally held every two years.

The official ceremony of the FINA Flag handover from UAE officials to representatives of Kazan, the host city of the next World Championships, took place in Abu Dhabi in December 2021.

In 2015, Kazan also hosted the 16th FINA World Championships.

Kazan was chosen to host the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) during the FINA Bureau in July 2017.

Having a well-developed infrastructure for staging sporting events, the capital of Tatarstan Republic played host to numerous competitions under the aegis of FINA and gained the unofficial title, “Capital of Aquatic Sports”.

The city of Kazan can be easily reached by plane. It is located 26 kilometres away to the south-east of the city. The Organising Committee arranges meet and greet services day and night in accordance with the arrivals and departures schedule.

There is a wide range of accommodation places on offer for participants of the Championships. Presently, the hotel room stock of the city features 245 places of accommodation (including hostels and zero-star hotels) that offer 8,100 rooms that can accommodate up to 18,000 guests.

During the Championships, participants will be transported between official hotels and the competition venue by buses and vans in accordance with timetable.
